Change...it can be a scary yet very exciting chapter in your life.
Many of us do not realize it when it is time for a change in our lives until something drastic happens or if we feel as though we are stuck wherever we are in life. So what makes change so scary that a lot of us are afraid to make that first step?

Change can bring along a lot of uncertainties:
“Will I be happy?”
“What if I mess up?”
“What if I fail?!”

But with these uncertainties also brings along so many new opportunities that you may have never even dreamed of experiencing if you did not take this first step of change in your life. Always keep in mind though, the first step to making change is always going to be the hardest part of the entire process. You need to trust in yourself and recognize your potential and look at it as a new opportunity to improve yourself.

When change comes around, oftentimes, we run as fast as we can in the opposite direction. When this happens, we never know what kind of opportunity we are passing up. Can you think back to a time when you had the chance to make a big change in your life and you took it and have not looked back since? Think of all of the amazing things that can happen to you when you take that leap of faith and tackle this head-on.

Physical or body change is something that we are the experts in...but you also have to be able to make that change mentally as well. If your brain is not in it, your body will not be either which will have many negative effects on you in the long run. It is so important to be mentally prepared for any change that you are about to endure, especially the ones that are going to have a major impact on your day to day life. So many times, the hardest part is just getting into the gym if you are looking for a physical change. Often we come up with excuse after excuse to try and justify why we are not going to work out today. This automatically will set you up for failure.

WHEN YOU CHANGE THE WAY YOU LOOK AT THINGS, THE THINGS YOU LOOK AT CHANGE!

There are many ups and downs on the path to change, and that just comes along with the territory. There is really no way to avoid this, that is part of learning and growing, trial and error. What will work for me, what will not, how can I overcome this boundary, what will my life look like if I continue on this path? The best way to make sure your change that you are going after is successful, give yourself goals! Write them out, add to them, look at them every single day. Decide where you want to be a month from today, and then six months, and then a year. Once you hit that one year mark you will be happy with yourself looking back at all of the goals you crushed and how much you were able to accomplish just by making a change.

Most times people want a change in their lives because they are unhappy with where they are at or know that they have more potential in them. When this feeling occurs, you need to take a step back and reevaluate where you are in your life compared to where you pictured yourself to be at this stage. Whether this is a career change or a lifestyle change you have to go into it with an open mindset and be understanding that mistakes are going to happen. It all comes back to how we overcome those mistakes and what we will do in the future to ensure that that does not happen anymore. The fear of change without a doubt holds so many people back from going after what they want and need out of life. A lot of the time, we are so afraid of change because we can not anticipate the outcome. With that being said though, a majority of the time, staying where you are becomes more of a risk compared to the change. When we stay in a certain position or lifestyle then we become too comfortable and we are afraid to change it because it is what we are used to doing day in and day out for a majority of people. Becoming too comfortable creates almost a lazy lifestyle. We know what we are doing, what needs to be done, how long it will take, and a lot of the time, we are not in a rush to get it done when we are in that “comfortable” state of mind.

If there is something that needs to be changed in your life, we dare you to take the jump and make that change. Take that risk that you have been thinking about but just have been too afraid to actually make that first step. You never really know what is on the other side until you are there and living it. Sign up for that exercise program, take that job, accept the promotion, whatever it may be, live your best life now!
